Hey ya'll.I've got some JBL SR4719X cabs and I want to put some 2242H drivers in them.Do you think they will work well compared to the 2241H's that were in there.Any information would be greatly appreciated.

That'll do very nicely. Very nicely indeed.

Thanks for the words Wayne. The 2241 has a Qts of .4 and the 2242 has a Qts of.28.2242 X-max is 9mm and 2241 X-max is 7.6.Other than the fact that the 2242 will take 800W instead of 600W and is 1db more sensitive. The main difference seems to be the Qts thing.Do you think I should make any modifications to the cabs or just leave them alone? Are there any drawbacks to this switch. And why isn't it a more common practice?Money? Thanks a bunch.....Lightnin

The JBL 2242 works pretty well in cabinets designed for the 2241. Their electro-mechanical parameters are different, but they are each tuned to work well in 10ft3 cabinets tuned to 35Hz. They actually have a pretty wide range of good alignments, from basically 6ft3 to 12ft3 and from 30Hz to 40Hz tuning. This broad range makes them relatively insensitive to cabinet tuning and very tolerant of parameter shifts over their operating range. Both the JBL 2241 and the 2242 are robust high-quality designs that offer consistent performance over a wide range of conditions.

Cool! You won that speaker! Great price too - You can recone it and make it good as new.

Did you ever write to JBL and ask what recone kit you should use?
