I do not know a lot about speakers or anything too much to do with audio but i was hoping someone could help me with a questions i have. I am a college student looking to buy some speakers for my house next year. I plan on spening hopefully less than 300$ on speakers. I am mostly just looking for a set of speakers that i can kinda abuse and just bump really loud at partys. My questions is really, what is the difference between florr standing speakers and DJ speakers? What is the sound difference, is DJ speakers only good for music? Any info would be helpfull.
Thanks

Inexpensive so-called DJ speakers are typically variants on inexpensive live sound PA speakers, and while they can play loud they for the most part use inferior components and sound quite terrible. To have something of that variety worth owning new be prepared to double your budget.

For what you want to spend go used; a good source is local musical instrument stores, where you can try before you buy and possibly even get a basic warranty. There's plenty of them out there, from bands that either traded for better or broke up and pawned their gear.

I agree with Bill. Here is another idea to thnk of:
Get a pair of paradigm atmos for $189 a pair, along with a cheap PA subwoofer like a jensen.
