Hello there, I spotted Technics SP-10Mk3 in my local used Audio equipment place. This guys do professional Audio-video installations and they do from time to time contract job to up-date local radio station gear. So they got this SP -10 Mk3 TT from a radio station. It's just the deck, no base (plinth ?) no tone arm and very unfortunately no power supply for the TT. The people from the radio station are 100% positive that this TT worked fine with out any problems however no one knows where is the power supply. My question is: What are my chances finding the power supply for this TT ? Have anyone ever see one on e-bay for sale ? Is there any place that deals with parts for vintage TT specially Technics ? I did business with this guys before and I find them be very fair doing business they're holding the Mk3 for me right now and it's my turn to make offer. What would be fair offer for this TT ? How much would be to much ? Thanks
Interesting; the SP 10 is a world class unit. Without the arm is no problem but the power supply might be. What is your offer to them? Off-hand I say that a fully equipped table would run about 600$.
Well that would change things somewhat. Remmember that some have a value that exceeds the range due to collectors who require mint copndition or some kind of documentation peculiar to certain units. I wouldn't pay anywhere near that. They are not that great sounding compared to what you could get otherwise. But if you choose to try and retain the original parts and make it complete maybe it might be worth it. Sorry if this post is useless; I know of one site that re-builds them; I will look it up and post it.
No post is ever useless my friend I greatly appreciate your input. you're probably right about the collectors value part - believe it or not I had see one brand new SP-10Mk3 in the box never used go on e-bay for $6.500 !!!! Sonically it's probably not the best ion the world but I read that this TT are build - engineered to be incredible reliable and tough which doesn't surprise me considering the fact that some radio stations had use them 24/7 If you find out about the place that is rebuilding them please let me know.
