I have a Technics 1200mk2 that I bought used. The problem is that there is only audio on the left channel, and nothing from the right. I've tried different cartridges and head shells, they all work fine on my other table, and all have the same problem on the problem table.
The guy I bought the table from changed out the rca cable, so I'm thinking that is probably the problem. I dont have a volt meter, so I'll check the power out tomorrow. Anything else that I might want to look at? I opened the table up, and the replacement RCA looks ok, all the solder points appear good.

thanks!

Ok, It's not the RCA cables, maybe the tone arm???

Probably loose cartridge pins. It's pretty rare that wire inside the arm is defective. But think of this; if you are getting continuity from the table to the RCA plug then the signal should be getting through. At this point there is not much that you can check on the table; try checking the continuitynfrom the cartridge pins to the RCA plug one at a time.

Found the problem. One of the wires going from the tone arm into the base had somehow been cut in half. It was sticking out from under the tone arm, I dont know how I had missed it before. Thanks.
