I'm looking to purchase a new television and longevity matters a great deal to me. I'd rather pay more up front and not have to deal with any problems down the road. I've been researching and unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a consensus as to how long a plasma television should last. I mean there's a vast difference between 54 years as mentioned on CNET and three years as mentioned on The Balance. How long do you think a plasma television will really last? This is merely anecdotal evidence, but I've had my plasma television for about five years and it's still going strong. That gets you over the three year mark as suggested on The Balance website. I know people who have had their plasma televisions longer than I have. I think the longevity of most electronics depends on which brand you buy, how you treat it afterwards, and how often you use it.
