In some cases, I've noted that car stereos don't come with an ignition wire, making an aftermarket stereo difficult to install. In other instances, car systems aren't compatible with aftermarket units. I've had to connect the positive wire behind the cigarette lighter to the ignition wire in the aftermarket stereo before but I'm just wondering if this is always safe?
It doesn't sound safe, but then again I'm not an electrician. I'm picturing a bunch of wires tangling up with each other behind the scenes. That makes me jittery, so I personally would not do it.
