Beautifull example of this table on Ebay. I would like to see some evidence that very massive arms actually can create more record wear. I understand inertia but that is a consequence of all arms regardless of mass.

Since the needle is what moves to track the groove, I wouldn't think that arm mass would change record wear. Set-down weight is a different matter, but arm mass is decoupled from the stylus by the compliance of the needle mount.
Gotcha; now if the arm is more massive then it should require more energy to move it and since that energy is absorbed and stored by the stylus like a spring then it will be released as heat; no?

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. I'm suggesting that needle vibrations aren't transferred to the tone arm so the arm doesn't add to the moving mass of the stylus.
