I was thinking of building my 7 Pi with a few modifications:
1) using a matrix of bracing built with 1/2 sheets of Baltic birch similar to what is done in the B&W speakers for the bass box.
2) Doubling up on the thickness of the bass baffle so I could recess the flange 9/16 (but not change the internal volume)
3) not using the rear reflectors for the bass. Corner walls would serve this purpose and I would come up with another approach for stability.
Any issues with these?

Each of those are fine. The rear panels that you call reflectors are just a positioning device. And bracing is never a bad thing. So none of what you propose will have an adverse effect.
