Babies are cute, but when they cry, the sound drives me mad. I understand the biological purpose behind it but what is it about baby cries that are so annoying? Is it the frequency range, the sheer persistence, or something else?
I think the sound was "engineered," if you will, to be that aggravating. I think that's Mother Nature's way of making sure that parents don't neglect their infants by making the sound too nerve-wrecking to ignore!!
