I'm a touch nervous about purchasing my family a new home theater set up. How can I make sure that what I buy will be compatible with my current equipment?

What equipment do you currently have and what are you looking to buy? For example, are you keeping your current receiver and shopping for new speakers, or vice-versa? What do you already have that you need to make sure is compatible with anything you might buy?

Hi, The biggest issue I have run into with HT systems is balancing them. Fortunately many of the better ones come with a microphone that you place where you want the sound to be the best and it will use test tones to set the levels automatically. Then at least one spot will be right. Actual room effects such as nulls and nodes cause more problems but unless you are serious about sound it can be a rather long and sometimes costly experience working around them.

Good Listening

How difficult is it to get that one spot in the place that you want it? We would want it to be the sofa preferably, as that would be the most useful, and it's right in front of the telly.
