We are thinking of buying our son a television for Christmas this year. He is always watching action movies and playing Playstation 3 games and wants a better television for it. He wants something in the 39-42 inch range and my problem is I'm not sure whether it should be LCD or LED. Does anyone know which would work better with fast moving games and great graphics?

They are equal in terms of performance because it's the refresh rate and the resolution that matter. LEDs are technically LCD TVs anyway. Both are liquid crystal display, but LCDs use fluorescents for back lighting and LED TVs use LEDs (light-emitting diodes).

It used to be you saw only LED and LCD TVs (and plasma) and then they started selling LED-LCD TVs. Apparently the latter was just a marketing trick since LEDs are automatically also LCDs.
