There are new 7581's being manufactured and from what I've read, they are very good, perphas better than original. I don't remember which, but one brand (EH?) is the same size as the original. Others are the size of a 6L6, and likely will not fit into those compact chassis. I tried to fit one into my son's 299D and it would not work (could not put the case back on). Anyway, I think it is the Electro Harmoix one thta's the right size. Check Antique Electronic Supply or Triode Electronics.
JJ 7591 are smaller than EH 7591. Both are reasonably good, as compared to NOS Westinghouse or RCA. Scott just relabeled the tubes, they did not make any.
