The wood I bought was some shelving from home depot. But it has paper vaneer on it. Trouble is when glueing it together the paper wants to peel off making the bond week. Can I use some screws to tighten it up. The only joints that have the paper and only on one face, are the four corners of the top bottoms and sides On the fronts and backs I got smarter and used real mdf and dowels. Will the screws matter?

I want to be sure I understand: you're gluing veneer side to cut edge and the veneer is peeling? If so, you either have to start over, peeling off all the veneer, or, as you said, use screws every 3" to make the bond. Once done, you'll need to silicone caulk every MM of joint inside the cabinet.
Too bad you didn't find the laminated pine tabletops Depot has instead of the shelving. I once planned a Theatre 4 made out of the 36" and 18" widths by 48 and cut with a toolbox saw!
