Do you do any audio for video recording? How did you get into it and what software do you like to use for editing and synchronization?

I don't do the editing on a professional level. I do record audio for video tracks, however, and I test them by inserting a WAV file into the video using Vegas, but I know that's primarily good for a quick check. I assume it can e done more precisely and higher quality with Vegas, but there are better ways out there, most likely.
