I have a very large (55" LCD TV) that I want to mount to the wall above my fireplace. We live in an older house with plaster walls, and I am not sure it will hold. What would be the best way, hardware to mount it without cracking the plaster on the wall?

I would say definitely look for a stud, or even better, two studs in the wall that you could bolt the mount on to. We have paneling in our house and that's how we did it.

You will definitely need 2 studs for a TV that size. We just installed a 45 (or 47) inch HDTV and there is no way the TV would stay up securely with one stud.

You can hang it from the ceiling with dental floss (*not responsible for damage my advice may cause)

Or actually, just use the other ideas in the post Smile
