This is a pretty good CD after a couple of listens. It has moved up into the same rotation as "All the Roadrunning", "On an Island", "Neck & Neck" "Sailing to Philadelphia" and "Ghost of a Rose".

Since going out on his own Mark Knopfler has written quite a few songs with historical themes. Some of his lyrics have puzzled those who search for the meaning of life

To my knowledge All the Roadrunning is his latest. I haven't found a album of his I didn't like yet. Here is what I have of his and sorta in order of preference. The link should take you to a explanation of the making of Roadrunning you may find interesting.

All the Roadrunning-with Emmy Lou Harris
Sailing to Philadelphia
Shangri-La
Neck & Neck-with Chet Atkins
Ragpicker's Dream
One Time Radio Takes
Golden Heart
Wag the Dog
