I have no idea where to put this question so here goes:
TC, you mentioned some time ago that you did the manufacturing for some Speakerlab speakers.
I got a pair of the S-1's for use as HT surrounds about 5 or so years ago when my interest in speakerbuilding was getting going for real.
I have used the cabs for experiments in sound but my question is: Do you have drawing and construction details that aren't proprietary for the boxes themselves? The S-1 box seems heavier and more dense (using the knuckle rap test) than other enclosures I've encountered. Just the materials and joinery method is what I'm interested in.
The material is probably 45 lb industrial particle board, veneered on both sides. MDF was not even available commercially back then, or at least it wasn't stocked. A total net thickness of 13/16" would confirm this. Probably just a mtre'd and braced cabinet. I did Speakerlab work but that was the mid 70's. Ya taking me back.
Ok, I was mistaken on when you did work for them but I also had Speakerlab product in the 70's and that takes me back as well.
At that time and well into the 80's I felt good if I could just get through the physical assembly of components and pre-assembled crossover.
Since I currently have a question in here on Voigt pipes I'd also like to open up a dialog on your Bigger Is Better project shown at Full Range. I'll review what is there before continuing with that. Ooops. Is anything even _in_ archives since James changed over to the new format?
