PE says the driver is 106dB, 8 ohms. I've now got 16 0hms WW with a .47 cap attenuation. Vocals don't sound natural. Kinda hollow, "cupped hands" sorta thang. Will a .33 cap (have some on order) be better or worse? Should I move up to the polyimadidy DE250? Granted, whose heard both but would you expect the plastic diaphrammy to sound better/ worse than the titanium? Oh, how I miss the 2446!

I dunno if that's what's up, Bill. I wouldn't expect the driver to start sounding worse after just a few hours with moderate power. I suppose it might have had some foreign object get inside; That would be more likely in my mind to make a change of sound character. Then again, that wouldn't change DC resistance. And I can't imagine debris getting in there in a home hifi environment. So this is an oddball thing, I think.The DE200 sounds a lot like the PSD2002 to me. They don't sound exactly the same, of course, but similar. The DE250 sounds more like the old drivers with aluminum diaphragms, but with much more extension than aluminum drivers, like a titanium 'phragm has. Sort of a cross between them, smoother than titanium, more extension perhaps. Not as much extension as beryllium, but nice.

Giving the ol' credit card a work out. Had to hear the 250s for myself and the price is nearly the same. PE lets you send back no questions so we'll see which stays. BTW, which CD horn are you guys using?

I'm blown away! One album side. Sooo close to the natural tone of the 1812's but not as dynamic. Wow. Regular Pi/Eminence 3rd order BW with better caps and coils, .33uF Mundorf Supreme with 3- 8 ohm Mills for attenuation. 2226 with 1.5 mH foil inductor. My new reference. Moose says hi.

It's a rare review where I don't note my first impression 'cause a big believer that there's more brain than component break-in. Still, there's a little of that awww vocal sound in the half octave from middle "G" to High "D" that could be stiffness of the 'phragm. I hope. I scored some 20uF Aerovox oil can caps the other day and we'll see what they do for the x-over. Speakerman swears by them. I also wonder about the M-cap being bright. I have some .33 Auricaps buried in a nother speaker system which may have to come apart. Really glad you guys suggested the 250s. Thanks.
