I never worked with Tubes, are they "faster" than silicon? (Why?)

I'd say that semiconductors are more accurate that tubes, but tubes clip more gracefully. The result is a difference in harmonic content that some would say is more musical in tubes. Another thing that comes into play is feedback, which does weird stuff when the circuit clips. Between those two things, some prefer tubes to solid state circuits, at least for low-power hifi gear.
