I am talking about making adjustments for speaker levels and screen settings using cool tools like meters to eliminate echoes, make colour sharps, and balance sound.
The cost of hiring for this service can be around $1000 depending on how complex your setup is.
Do you think it is worth spending that much to get the balance you need for your sound and visual setup, or is it a pass for you? Have you hired any experts for this, or did you make use of DIY to achieve a good result? Let me know what you think.
I fully support hiring a real expert for home theater calibration tasks. I tried the DIY path first with a cheap mic and free software, but I never got the tight, balanced sound I wanted. When I finally paid a pro about a thousand dollars, the difference hit me right away. The speaker levels sat perfectly, the bass stopped booming in the corners, and the picture colours looked natural instead of washed out or overdone. An expert brings proper tools and years of room experience that most of us simply do not have. They catch problems I would have missed for months. For me, the money was worth every cent because the system finally felt like a true theater instead of a collection of gear fighting the room.
Have you already looked at any local calibrators, or is the cost still the main thing holding you back? What is the update on it?
