Thanks for the support.  It has been a trying 8 months but things are looking up.  I am still having to take more medications that I like, but nerve pain is not easy to fix.  At least the spine is repaired.  The following was posted elsewhere. After being under the weather because of nerve pain and subsequent back surgery I have finally been able to listen to and appreciate music.  I spent the morning listening to some favorite LPs and CDs.  I came to a few conclusions.  The orignial LP of the Byrds Mr Tambourine Man was better than the CD.  The CD was too processed.  A second thought was that if you want to test your system's dynamic range the CD of Classic Folk Hits by Judy Collins is a good choice.  If your system is weak in any one area especially your mid range this will sound like caulk on the blackboard.  For my "tests" I used my Empire 598 turntable with a Grado Sonata II and Jelco 370H arm.  The CD is a Marantz 6007.  It actually sounds slightly better than my Oppo 83S which was my previous standard for digital music. The phono preamp is my diy of the project I posted a while back and has all the latest upgrades.  Everything feeds my passive preamp and then to a Behringer CX3400 active crossover (yes sand I know but it works in this case). After that it goes to 4 massaged Oddblock  power amps and on to my Martin Logan ESLs and a pair of 205 liter subs with 30 cm drivers.  As you probably can tell I am really picky about music.  It took about 15 years to get everything to the present state and it has been 4 since have been able to figure out any way to improve it. Now back to music. As my wife noted today....it appears you are getting back to normal.

Good Listening
Bruce
