As this technology gets more assimilated into commerce the more government and investment whether private or state controlled gets involved.
Blogger Kevin Walmsley of Inside China/Business puts out detailed analysis of what the trends are between the US and China, that now are so adversarial as a result of US hegemony policy from an empire losing its grip to control world affairs.
Two blog posts here explain the dilemma the US faces with one of its last ace cards of export dominance. Computer chip design and implementation of the emerging AI "revolution" as is touted.
One is the infrastructure needed coming from the electrical grid to power this technology that our government has let stagnate for decades and the other is the cost outlay in using the chip hardware for running the AI architecture. Both of these aspects have China with the advantage. As they seem to with everything nowadays.
Because they, as their government, invested and planned out their economy for the future. While ours flails about helter-skelter with whatever the market dictates and the planning of Wall Street will invest in.
