Hey Wayne. For me a debate online with decorum is preferable I think to direct face to face interaction. Because emotion always gets involved. Training in debate and diplomacy is needed for direct debate. I appreciate being able to voice my reasoning in this forum. I've come about it like you have over the years by experiences with revisions and most with a lot of study.

I find that things are a lot more interconnected than compartmentalized. So, macroeconomics and foreign policies go hand in hand. Along with philosophy, history, technological, psychological and of course the boogie man itself politics.  Which has made it interesting to me. That this interconnection has a very profound affect on our lives. My main mentors are the ones I mention most frequent. That along with other people who have used the blogging platform of communication. Of course, just like our mainstream journalism and media, you have to be discriminating for what you take in. But I don't think that's too difficult with someone with an open mind.
 
Now, you say the Middle East has fought among themselves for centuries. Consider also the European continent over those centuries. Constant warring among themselves. Eventually drawing in most of the planet from the last century's warring. So that's moot about the Middle East. Peoples, nations, dynasties, empires just as in Europe doing the human preoccupation with domination and advantage over one another. And it hasn't abated into the 21st century.
 
When you mention how our country hasn't had much to do with Ukraine & Russia. Well, that is part of the whole policy structure our government has promoted. We have had an adversarial attitude with that part of the world longer than we've been alive. The whole cold war scenario and all.  And from what I've studied is that this has tied into our whole fetish of the military industrial complex. And our doctrine of economic thought.

When you start looking into that, you can see the gulf between what the seminal writings of Karl Marx critique of capitalism and the revolution in Russia towards socialism that they interpreted with communism has formed our country's geopolitical strategy in that part of the world. Later with China following suit. 

The patterns of how the United States has asserted in its foreign policy, particularly since the end of the great war, has been consistently at odds with any socialist brand of governance. With the build up of our military and our financial dominance being used to try and control the perception of it spreading out in the world. Using the dollar's dominance, our exorbitant privilege as it's been groused about by foreign countries.

In the Middle East our petrodollars exchange has been at the heart of controlling the oil trade in this part of the world. When Israel was created, it had a dual purpose of promoting a Jewish homeland and also being a military stronghold in the region for our oil interests. Our longstanding geopolitical goal has been to reign in the governments of the states in the region that have run contrary to our control.

Currently the sovereign nation of Iran, whom we had control with from the overthrow of a fairly elected official in the early 50's with a dictatorship of the Shah that was overthrown in the late 70's. Has been our purpose ever since to regain that country's compliant control. The ruse has been their nuclear program which they have complied with international agencies. Israel has not. So the double standard of our foreign policy shows in the Middle East particularly. Especially with Israel committing genocide on the Palestinians.

When you look critically at how the United States has conducted itself in its foreign policy. With study you see a blatant pattern of conduct that is consistent throughout the world. Over a long time period. Our CIA is our rogue agency that conducts illegal and clandestine activity all over the world. Our diplomacy follows lock step with their conduct. 

Meanwhile our influence is wearing thin with the greater portion of inhabitants of this planet. And developments are occurring to challenge our dominance both financially and militarily. This is the time will tell element.
  
I think what I've learned has merit and can stand up to scrutiny. Despite the propaganda to counter it. It's definitely swimming against the current. But I hope that this movement going on in the world will get more and more traction. Until this information can become more fairly distributed by media and journalism. The undercurrent of blogs will have to suffice. So I think they do have a place in absence of good journalism and a media essentially under control by financial interests. Discounting it out of hand is obscuring what relevant and crucial information is available from it.

So just as you are passionate Wayne about that part of the world you got to know. I'm passionate about the way our country has conducted itself. I think and I know it has to change.
