What I actually meant by "scaling up the compression horn to the size of the midhorn" is that I could 3D scan your H290C compression horn and 3D print it at the size of the midhorn for use with the Eminence Delta 10. I would keep the speaker mounting plate the same as in your woodwork plans. At work, I have access to a large format 3D printer that can print carbon fiber ABS with excellent structural integrity. (I understand that you make money with your H290C horns, so I would keep the 3D scan to myself only.)
My question is whether the shape of your properly formed CD horn would be beneficial for the midrange driver (and its frequencies), and whether simply scaling up the size would work. I have a feeling it's not that straightforward, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Please confirm that I understand correctly: 1) I can change the front "chamber" to what I indicated in red under point 2c without significantly affecting the sound. 2) The height / cross section of the bass-bin's mouth can be reduced without noticeable difference in frequency response. 3) The H290C requires baffle mounting, meaning that Design B is not suitable. 4) Separating the mid-horn and the mouth of the bass-horn by 16cm is acceptable, thus Design A is OK. 5) Both the B&C 12PLB100 and the JBL 2226H are equally suitable for very low-level listening.
