I think that misses the point. Does Ben Norton as a journalist expressing his views have to know the technical particulars of what goes into creating this technology? He's telling a story showing the implications from what one society's vision to that technology is with another society's vision. There are ulterior motives that have entered into this technology that go beyond the nuts and bolts of it. Being used by monied interests and governmental hype surrounding its foreign policy. Which to me at least shows hypocrisy. Apparently Ben Norton as well.
Technology has always been compromised along these lines. The good, the bad, the sleazy.
