Hi I see two ways to do this. First (as you probably figured) you have to get the sound into a PC. I use Windows so if you use some other brand it may be different. If the sample is in digital form (CD, streaming etc) and not analog I would use a program like Audacity to trim it to size. Displaying the result can be done in the same program...but you have all the menus etc on the screen at the same time. In my system I would do a screen capture and clean it up in a graphics program so that all you have left is the strip with the sound display. You could then size it to fit your needs. If the source is analog you will first have to "record" it into the PC to get the digital file. Many programs will do that. I suspect that there might be some software out there that would do exactly what you want but I don't know of any. Anyone out there with some ideas on what seems a very worthy project?
