Hi, The first one was a steep learning curve. Honestly it sounded great, but it was able to find any source of hum within about 4 feet. Since then any of the diy ones from about 5 years ago were really quite good...just each newer one was a little quieter. With a design that does not use negative feedback or ICs it is not a simple task to get above about 70 db S/N. The latest ones are in the 85 db wideband (not "A" weighted as I consider that cheating on the sub 200HZ range). I'm looking to the -90 range with the new mods in the pending design. I'm still tweaking the layout, but I should have initial results in a few weeks.

Good Listening
Bruce
