The greatest generation is fast becoming extinct. With it a grip remembering their great accomplishment in a short and intense time in history. I've read and seen investigations into human violence over the millennia becoming less widespread and devastating based on population. I wonder if our ultimate test as a species is whether we can learn to live in harmony with our environment, much less ourselves. Before it's compromised to the point of livability. It might necessitate as Eisenhower wrote in his impromptu war plans, "great risks and spend any amount of money required". Like then. Of course.
