Oddwatt was at the Lone Star Audio Fest a few years back and they had a very good sounding room several years in a row. Tough to do in hotel rooms. They have kits.

diyaudio.com has a number of forums that have all sorts of build threads. The Pass Labs forum on diyaudio is always busy and entertaining. Several of their boards are available at the diyaudiostore.com and a few are available as complete (or semi complete) kits.
