This is merely anecdotal evidence, but I've had my plasma television for about five years and it's still going strong. That gets you over the three year mark as suggested on The Balance website. I know people who have had their plasma televisions longer than I have. I think the longevity of most electronics depends on which brand you buy, how you treat it afterwards, and how often you use it.
