Larger. Room modes are stronger in smaller rooms.

But by saying "larger," I mean really large, like several thousand square feet.

Small and medium size rooms (like one would expect in a home) are improved with damping material. Framed drywall helps damp modes, because the panels vibrate and absorb energy. Carpeting, drapes and furniture also damp the sound.
