I thought the same thing about the canary's but the individual I purchased them from had tried two canary pre's and didn't think much of them. Of course what sounds good to one doesn't necessarily sound good to another. I have thought about the bottlehead with the upgrade options especially for the price. I have no electronics background at all and the thought of getting zappped does not appeal to me. Have you tried the phono pre from bottlehead?
