I haven't had a TV in 17 years, and getting rid of it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Too expensive, and nothing but garbage on there anyway.
Internet service is FAR too expensive as well. When cable internet first came to this area, it was about $30 per month. Now, it's double that for the lowest speed service they offer. But, I do like my internet, so I suck it up and pay for it.....
Cell phones are another prime example of highway robbery. My first cell phone cost $25 per month, but the cost kept increasing over time, until it cost us $105 a month for two phones. And, that only got us 1000 minutes and 250 texts total , if I remember right.
So, we bought a couple of month-to-month, no-contract prepaid phones elsewhere. They cost about $80 each to buy outright, and the service (1000 nationwide minutes and 1000 texts each) costs $30 each per month.
