I am not a woodworker, don't even play one on TV, and tend to defer to those that I trust like Epstein. But I have dabbled a time or two with finishing, and I do the sides that won't be seen first (bottom and back) and then the sides, top and front. Same order you said. My reasoning is the last surfaces get the "final" attention, so they are probably going to be the best. I have no idea if that is what the woodworking pros do or not, so in this case, I'm not sure it's worth 2ยข. Just a thought.
