My mother-in-law has an old Edison record player housed in a 4 1/2 ft cabinet. This Edison has a diamond needle, so it has never needed to be replaced. She still has some of the 78 records (quite thick) she used to play. I remember seeing a record by Vernon Dalhart (early, early country music) in her collection.

I have an Edison player as well. The edison disc are different than normal records - the groves are modulated up and down, not side to side. I have maybe 100 Edison disc and still play them for company......C
