All you really need is an old school electronics guy. As SayWhat mentioned, 8 track players aren't incredibly complicated units.

I had my parents old 8 track player up until a couple of years ago when it got left behind in a nasty divorce. Wish I still had that thing. I felt funky being an 8 track owner in this day and age, lol.
