The midhorn in the eight π is the same as the midhorn in the six π and seven π loudspeakers. The driver used in the six π and seven π cornerhorns is usually the Delta 10 though, while the driver used in the eight π is the Alpha 10.

The eight π loudspeaker was actually an afterthought, sort of taking the place of what would have been a five π cornerhorn. The Alpha 10 won't handle quite as much power as the Delta 10, and isn't as well suited as a dedicated midrange. But its electro-mechanical properties make it perfect for use as a midwoofer, or for rear-tuning for bass while front loading for midrange with the horn. More information in the links below:
