I remember the days when cable television was new and people
laughed at the term pay tv and said it will never work. Well,
it never did for me, nor most people I know either. i don't
have cable tv and never did.

However, today we have television series released on dvd and
these can be found in the stores and at libraries too.

There's really good stuff on these: Horatio Hornblower and
Longitude to nmae just a couple.

During these sad times of few good sci-fi releases I picked up
on some tvdvd's: like Star Trek Voyager and Stargate SG-1.

These I got at the local library.

But today I actually paid full rental at the store for Dark Angel.
I don't plan to make a habit of this. My local lending library
is pretty damned good about getting just about anything I request.

But other people like this stuff too and it's hard to get in
the queue for a multi-season series.

The deal with Dark Angel is even though it's on dvd, there's
a rental only stipulation on it or something... so they
don't buy it. The story line is similar to a novel by
William Gibson called "Neuromancer" (a bit anyway.) It has to be back by tomorrow. It won't be late.

This form of Pay TV _really doesn't_ have any commercials in it
which is why I enjoy them so much.
