My gues is that this tower was build in various phases, various stones and ways of building. But, only archeological examination can says for sure. There are maybe 2-3 meters of stones and soil inside over the "real" level of rooms and a yard. A few more years and probably nothing would left to examine.
And, BTW - about XIV century, maybe earlier - who knows.
