And I have read it would only have to be 15-18% to equal the money taken in today. Unfortunately I don't think it will ever happen. People have no idea how much money they actually pay in taxes. I had a girl I work with tell me that she didn't pay any taxes at all last year. I said how could this be? She makes a good amount of money. She says "well it's true. If fact I got money back last year"! Of course I tried to educate her.
