I'd probably have an open cell foam grille made. You can attach it with velcro. You could cover the whole speaker with the grille or just cover the drivers, leaving the bottom half of the cabinet exposed. Be sure to have a section of the back of the grille removed so the soft dome doesn't contact it.

You could also use a metal grille that just covered the woofer for a different look.
