I don't have the particular setup you have, but I built a sub with
one of the plate amps from Parts Express. Its the 250W, no remote
one. Its driven from the HT receiver sub out, so no external XO.
The plate amp does have line level stereo in/out, so you can put
it in the signal path. I don't use it that way so I don't know
if that's better or worse than using a Y connector on your preamp
outputs. The other thing to think about is that if you put the plate
amp in the middle, I have no idea how good (slope, etc.) the return
feed is or if the XO freq tracks the knob or not. I'd go for an
external XO and the plate amp.
