"Modern" bass drivers really bother me in that the flange area seems just preposterously narrow. As a mechanical engineer I haven�t been know for my elegant, minmalist "Japanese car parts" design - I�m more of a ham-fisted, more-is-better kind of guy. I like the Altec 16" rim on the 15" driver. Plenty of surface area for tee nuts and the like. But the narrow rim drivers just don�t seem to leave much mounting surface.

Am I just nuts here?
