I suppose this is sort of like the question of whether a horn is an acoustic impedance matching device or simply defines a fractional radiating space. But no matter how you look at it, the expansion of a room's corner forms a conical horn, as much a horn as any other. The area expansion is equivalent to a rectangular horn with 70o flare. See the schematic diagram in the post called "Cornerhorns".
