Your bracing sounds like a good idea. About the dimensions, it probably will work well as long as you don't change them a lot and you keep the internal volume the same. Don't change where the port is in relation to the bottom of the cabinet and to the woofer. You can modify cabinet dimensions a little bit, but it is particularly important that the port not be at the very end of the box.As for decals, most are black but I have a few in silver and a few in gold.
