Well from what I have read you are better off in seperate room placements. You can use multiple subs with diferent placements to smooth the overall room response. Takes some set-up time and measurement tools but it can be done. Stereophiles Guide to Home Theater had a excellent article explaining how to do it. If I can find it I will let you know what issue.
