I've been plugging in the numbers for the JBL M252 in boxplot and pialign. Boxplot wants 13.99 cu ft and pialign wants 2.7 cuft. I have come to the conclusion that i could put them in either a theater 4pi box or stage 4pi box if tuned correctly. Other than an extended bass response is there any advantage for the larger cabinet? I noticed a rising response around 100hz of about 2-4 db in the smaller cab. Will this muddy the bass much if i use the stage 4pi box? I think if i have time i will make one box each and give a listen. Right now i have M252's in 3677 cabinets and they sound ok. Thinking of putting a 252 in a theater 4pi and run it with a PE 250wt plate for a sub., and put the M115s back in the 3677. Anyways just thinking about it. I have put some EV15bIIs in a 3.2 cab with PE 5x15 horn and selenium D205ti. They sounded to me a little layed back better soundstage with some midbass boom and not as much low bass when compare to the 3677/M252 combo. Wanted to get the 2226's but alas, I was not on the web Fathers day weekend. I am running both with 1.6k pi design xover with 10db compensation and zobel. Could you please send me plans for both the theater and stage 4pi.
Thanks, Matt
