David McBean wrote me today to announce that he has published a new version of Hornresp v.4.1. I've included excerpts of his letter which include some of the enhancements to his (already very useful) program.

David writes:

Just a brief note to let you know that I have recently released Version 4.10 of Hornresp. The new version incorporates an enhanced "Horn Segment Wizard" tool to help with the design of conical, exponential, hyperbolic-exponential and tractrix horns - the original Wizard applied to exponential horns only.

One of the neat things that the Wizard can do is to calculate the cross-sectional area at any point along the axial length of a horn. This should be a useful option for DIY designer/constructors, particularly if they are building a tractrix horn. The conventional tractrix formula allows for an axial distance to be calculated given an area, but not vice versa. Hornresp overcomes this limitation (simply set the 'Calculate' option button to S2 and enter the required values for L12, keeping S1 and F12 constant.).

You may be interested in taking a look at the new version - I am very pleased with the way it has turned out...
