hi till, place the x-over outboard. buy some cardas or wbt binding posts and wire the woofer through them. leave the x-over outside ( mine are on the floor behind the cabinets) this way you never have to open the cabinets and the x-over is available for unlimited tweaking. us freaks always need something to do, even when we are happy with the sound.
