I have a couple of suggestions that might work for you. You may want to modify your crossovers, and do a little bit of response shaping, to tame some of the midrange and treble harshness, and then position the speakers in corners without quite so much toe-in. Another thing that may help with tonal balance is to add a subwoofer. These suggestions might allow you to aim the speakers how they work best for energizing the room, without having to also depend on aiming them to set the tonal balance.
